How it works:
TalkSpot.com is a website hosting, and build-it-yourself website creation company targeting small business. Talkspot is seeking independent designers who will sell, produce, and service websites based around Talkspot's website development system and hosting. Talkspot designers are independent business people who are responsible for their own marketing effort within their approved territory. Talkspot designers set their own prices, find their own customers, and are responsible for all their own costs. That said, Talkspot will provide some marketing support, advertising support and preferred customer support, to help our designers start their business.

Talkspot is seeking self-motivated individuals who can sell websites, design and build the websites, and then train the customer accounts.

In Short:
It can be as simple as taking content you're given from a client and placing it into an existing layout. This saves people time and makes you some money. A full scale website can be assembled within an hour, in this fashion.

However, for the more slightly more technical and aesthetically savvy, it can become a powerful and robust “skinning” or template making system, where ecommerce tools, bulletin boards, slick flash based photo galleries, and more, become quite simple to attach to your refined customized designs, polished business websites and even your wildest design ideas!

You set the hours, the prices, the marketing and services, while TalkSpot works with you to train, instruct and assist in some marketing efforts.

Put simply, you build it and collect the service charge. We collect the base subscription and handle all ongoing customer support, bandwidth, domain name updates, server maintenance and more. We even have some people that charge a monthly fee ABOVE TalkSpot’s subscription. These industrious folks skim a little off the top, each month, while TalkSpot handles the support. Background:
TalkSpot was founded by Ken Williams, who founded one of the first computer software entertainment companies in 1979, running it for nearly 20 years, and growing it from a start-up to a 1,000 employee global company. TalkSpot.com was started by Ken Williams in 2005 and has now built over 50,000 websites. TalkSpot's prices are extremely low; $9.95 per month for a website, including site creation tools, domain name, hosting, email, ongoing customer support and more. This pricing is low enough to provide plenty of room for an independent reseller to rapidly provide custom websites at a low price with plenty of room for profit. As of March 2011, TalkSpot has only one existing designer, based in Vancouver Canada. This individual has done very well, and has already produced over 50 custom websites based on the TalkSpot system.

Q. What kind of person is TalkSpot seeking?

A. Good presentation and sales skills, strong design and html/CSS skills. Experience with Flash. Ability to run and grow a business.  That said, even without those skills, there are ways to benefit from this program, read on or contact us to learn more!

Q. What happens if I have excellent sales skills and am good with a computer, but don't know HTML or CSS and worry when things Flash?

A. You still have services you can offer.  We have several people that have built sites into existing templates within the system.  Most people don't have a lot of spare time and are willing to pay someone else to do some of the work.  Without knowing ANY programming languages, you can still build websites with TalkSpot.com and sell your services.  This likely means your price will be less than that of someone doing fully customized website designs, but you are still providing a needed service, at a price point a greater number may jump at.  TalkSpot has thousands of looks that come with the tools.  You may still sell your services and build complete websites.

Q. Why would someone want to do this?

A. It's a good chance to launch a website design business with a proprietary edge over the competition. Talkspot allows the designer the ability to build sites that would take hundreds of hours, and require a coding team, via other technologies, in a dramatically shortened period of time. Talkspot's goal is that most sites are delivered for under $1000, and that annual fees are under $100. A reseller can set prices where they believe the market is, but TalkSpot's belief is that by pricing competitively and keeping costs low, an enormous opportunity exists.

TalkSpot offers built in tools ranging from ecommerce tool and flash photo galleries, to maps with charting tools, full bulletin board systems, HTML editors, powerful email and newsletter functionality, blogs, video, music and more ... already integrated in the system.  The system just needs templates.

There are additional ways to benefit from this:

  • Build it and move on.  One of the primary benefits of TalkSpot's easy to use system is "anyone" can maintain their own site.  The tools are quick to learn and easy to train people on.  In addition, the system is riddled with help files, support boards, videos, direct email support, live chat and phone support, when needed.  Once a site has been completed, this is all handled for you.  You simply build the template, introduce the customer to the tools, get paid and move on!  They maintain it, themselves.  No late night phone calls from the diner on the corner looking to update their menu.

  • Charge for Search Engine Optimization.  A site is as only as good as the people seeing it.  TalkSpot is already largely optimized for search engines, but also includes easy tools for keywords, page names and descriptions, connections with Google Webmaster Tools and Analytics, plus documentation containing scores of ideas for further optimization.  Charge to keyword a site.  Charge to submit a site to the major search engines.  Have a full SEO package priced competatively to boost your income.

Q. How do the designers get customers?

A. Google Adwords has been proven to work. TalkSpot will invest some amount of money in a google adwords campaign to help the designer "get going". Once up and running, the designer can do whatever marketing the designer can afford, and believes works. Knocking on doors is certainly one good, low cost, way to go. That said, TalkSpot continuously runs international ads, and will refer regional business whenever practical to regional designers.

Q. Why does TalkSpot want to do this?

A. We have an extremely powerful, easy to use product - but, most small business people want to focus on running their business. They do not want to learn about SEO, or building a website, no matter how easy it is. Some hand holding is required. TalkSpot's goal is to have independent regional designers in all major geographic areas around the world, and to make them as profitable as possible.

Q. What guarantee is there that wouldn't be a waste of time?

A. None. That said, we have one proven successful designer, and a proven product. We are backboned on a high-end commercial network with stability and reliability. We know the customers are out there, and believe we have the best product, and the lowest price. Whether or not you can beat the bushes and drum up business, or excite customers, we do not know. If you are entrepreneurial, and want to have your own business, we think this is a good opportunity, but we wouldn't say it is risk free. We are willing to invest money in you (ad dollars and training) but you also need to invest time in creating the business.

Q. How can I learn more?

At first glance, this may seem like a lot to absorb, especially as you look through the website and see some of the code.  However, the "code" portion is a tiny percentage (albeit an important one).  The rest is purely design and the adding of content to the design.
